.....Building Contracts......

Apparently unbeknown to us the soil test has been completed....and the contracts are ready.

We have an appointment on Tuesday to pick up the Building Estimate contracts for us to go over (and start marking things off as we are now officially over budget!!).

Had a call from our CSR from National Builders to let us know that she was leaving today.......NOOOOOOOO...so our build will now be handled by the new CSR and I don't know if I am 100% happy with this! I will see what she is like at the appointment......so happy thoughts...happy thoughts as I know that the estimate will be nasty....

The quote that we have received from Powercor to connect the power 200m down the road to us is a staggering $59,000. which just blew the budget out of control.... and I know that we need power...so out with the red pen on the building estimate!!

Anyway I thought that you would like to see a plan of the house so here is the link Princeton 33E

Let me know what you think guys......

Enjoy the journey

.....Site Excavation.....

Well..... the site excavation has been completed....
in between bad weather...and I must say....
it looks such a big area... but we had more cleared than just the house site...

These photos were taken on 14/9/09

The first day of work.....

And now its finished....

All I have to do now is keep the kids with the cars OFF it..
as I know that they were eyeing off this lovely flat surface!!!

The next thing is to have the soil test done....

Enjoy the journey

.....The Weather!!!!.....

We have had some pretty bad weather lately..... and I don't mind the rain but the wind has been SOOO BAD!!!!

And wouldn't you know it....the week that we arranged for the site to be excavated (as we are doing this privately..not through the builders).....we had a huge windstorm.....and this is the result....

These photos were taken on the 28/8/09.

It just had to be one of the biggest gum tree that was on the block...yep....

Yes Nev...that is Ash at the side pondering!

and at the very end of the building site...
not somewhere else on the block....yep....

And it HAD to fall over the fence and into next doors dam.....yep.....

And we had to get a crane in to lift it back off....yep....

Well at least we hadn't started building and it didn't fall on the house!! But what a mess!!!

So the boys spent the weekend at the block re-acquainting themselves with the chainsaw..and doing bloky things and this was the result.........

Good to go with the site excavation....YEAH!!!

Enjoy the journey!!

.....Not alot happening except Paperwork!!!......

Well long time no post....
there has been a lot going on with the building process...but not much to tell...if that makes sense.

A lot of paperwork and visiting display home to sort out extras etc...scary stuff money wise... but I thought that I would post some photos of the block before the work begins!

These photos were taken on the 18/9/09.

The view from the driveway........

The shed (Mans Land!)........

The driveway... and the double garage entrance fits snuggly in between these two gums trees.......

The site for the house......

View from back corner of site down to front of block........

Hopefully next time we will have some progress!

Enjoy the journey!

.....OMG Its Official....FINALLY

Well...here I am..still not really believing that its true.......

FINALLY after thinking about it for SOOOO long we are going to build our house!! For those of you that know us, you know how long we have had our dream bush block...and how much we have grown out of this house!

But is actually all seems to have happened in a hurry..

It was only 2 weeks ago while having my tax done by my girlfriend, that I was whinging about the fact that no. one son had moved back home and bought extra furniture with him that just didn't fit back into his old room.. and she just said.."its time that you built that new house"...my reply..."yes I know! but where do you start!"

She immediately handed over her finance brokers no.. and said give this guy a call! find out how much you can borrow and go from there!! Well that's was the start of it all...

FRIDAY.....

Rang Finance Broker and made appointment for Monday..

Visited with a builder that I had previously looked at...as I had one of their plans in mind for over 4 years only to find out that it was discontinued and didn't like ANY of the new plans that replaced them. My friend told me to check out National Builders as her sister had build with them and they were great...

Check the website for house plans and started scrolling thru..I had my ideas about exactly what I wanted and they have great plans, but by the fourth one I knew that I had found the house that I just loved..it was just perfect with no alterations!

SATURDAY.....

Visited the local display home and had a chat with the CSR re pricing etc....

MONDAY.......

Finance Broker visited and gave us a few different options......and a figure that we could borrow... he suggested that we could put a deposit on the house, especially seeing as though the price would go up on 1st August by $5000 per house...so our paperwork has gone of to the bank for pre-approval for a loan..and I am still in shock about how EASY that was!

WEDNESDAY......

Hubby snuck back out to display home and put deposit down...and when I got home from work was presented at the door with the receipt and a glass of bubbly....

SO NOW THE JOURNEY BEGINS................3 months of paperwork and 5 months to build.......

I am excited!!..scared!!!..... and have a whole heap of different emotions going on at the moment... But this is only the first step so fingers crossed that everything goes to plan!

Enjoy the journey
